Want to see what project I’ve done using Sakura Crystal Lacquer and Terri Sproul Mixers?

 

I tried out the Crystal Lacquer and Terri Sproul Mixers on a couple of other things this time for my project. I started out with a resin butterfly.

I painted my butterfly with Sakura Crystal Lacquer and several colors of the mixers. So easy to do and now with a simple pin back you have a beautiful pin to wear!

          

 

The other thing I used my Sakura Lacquer and Terri Sproul mixers on was a Plaster of Paris picture frame.

          

Using my Sakura Crystal Lacquer and Terri Sproul Mixers I used several colors to paint it. The green that was used on this was a green that I created by mixing Tanzanite Blue and Citrine Pearl. You will get the color of green that you like by using the amounts of blue and yellow that you like.I loved how the green turned out on my project. I also used Citrine Pearl, Tanzinite Blue, and Violet Pearl. I thought it turned out very pretty, what about you?

                                                   These products are just wonderful and can be used on soooo many different surfaces! If you’re interested in using a paint and sealer all together then these products are just for you. The possibilities are endless. Just give them a try and see for yourself.

Sakura Crystal Lacquer - Paris Gift Tag

I LOVE PAIRS!!!!

This tag would make a great embellishment on a package or gift bag for a special occasion!

For the tag I cut a section of a napkin with the Eiffel Tower to use for the front of the tag. Separate the napkin layers (usually 3).  Moisten a Q-tip and outline the areas of the napkin to tear making uneven edges.  Cut canvas 5x7, fray edges by pulling threads.  On the front side, cover canvas with Sakura Crystal Lacquer mixed and Terri Sproul Mixers - Citrine Pearl.  Carefully lay the Eiffel Tower portion of the napkin on the lacquer.  Once the napkin touches it is there to stay (try to move and it will tear).  Layer lace on the canvas using Sakura Crystal Lacquer.  Add Glitter Glitz to the lacquer mix and paint over lace and around edges.  Let it dry before working on the back.  When dry the canvas will be stiff.

On the back use Sakura Crystal Lacquer with Terri Sproul Mixers Aquamarine Pearl (the color from the front side distorted the color and it looks green). On the painted canvas add a piece of sheet music, ledger paper and a section of the napkin, cover with the lacquer.  Sprinkle with fine glitter.  Adhere fabric and flowers with Sakura Crystal Lacquer. Dry throughly, preferably over night.

Center top punch a hole and set eyelet. Add a swivel clasp with chain. Tie ribbons on the clasp. Now you have a beautiful tag to adorn your gift!

Heading into Spring

Spring is one of my favorite time of the year, I love all the flowers and the smell of the fresh air..

I was in Hobby Lobby the other day and found this amazing Face mold (pretty large one) Had to have..  I love faces and knew i had to have this mold...

Brought it home and filled the inside of the mold with Creative Paperclay® and let sit set up over night.
I unmolded it the next morning and fill in any section that need to be fixed and sand the face smooth.  I just love how Creative paperclay® works, Great product....
I rolled out more paperclay and made three different size flowers I used 9 flowers total on my face...

After all the Paperclay was dry, I painted each of the flowers with the Terri Sproul Mixers and Painted the Face with Terri Sproul Mixers "Aquamarine  Pearl".  Adhere each of the flowers with Crystal Lacquer and I was done..  Just love the look of spring it has...

Earth Day Inspired Jewelry

Earth Day is tomorrow and I love creating new items from recycled pieces, I really wanted to do an Earth Day inspired piece (in this case pieces).

 Materials:
Used Tape Roll
Tule
Terri Sproul Mixer:  Tanazite Pearl, Ultra Fine Glitter
3D Crystal Lacquer
The Robin's Nest Dew Drops
Cereal Box
Wire
Scissors
Fish Hook Earrings

 1.  Wrap the Tape Roll with Tule - tie knot in end.

 2.  Paint with 3D Crystal Lacquer and Terri Sproul Mixers.

 3.  Place a rim of Lacquer around the top add Glitter.  Allow to dry.

 4.  While drying create earring and pendant.  Use an oval template to create four circles on a cereal box (for the earrings) and two larger ovals for the pendant.

 5.  Cut out the circles

 6.  Glue the circles glossy side together and trim.

 7.  Tie tule around the circles.

 8.  Paint with Lacquer and Mixers.

9.  What you fingers will look like.  I would recommend washing them before wrapping the wire or you will glue yourself to your project.  It is also recommended that you allow the project to dry completely before wrapping (once again so you won't glue yourself to your project.)  Add Dew Drops for finishing touches.

Happy Wednesday! Susan here bringing you another project using Sakura Crystal Lacquer and Terri Sproul Mixers!!!

I hope you have been enjoying all of the fantastic projects and tips from the Sakura Hobby Craft Design Team. Since Earth Day is just a few days away, today I am sharing a greencrafting project. I am giving new life to this vintage metal stained glass owl frame. I really love the aged patina and oxidation on this metal frame.

Remember these when you were growing up??? I sure do! Kits that you fill up with colored crystals and then bake them in the oven...I loved making them. Now they are cheap plastic with goopy glitter glue that don't last. I bought this owl at one of my local Indie Craft Shows from a crafty friend of mine who searches out and unearths vintage treasures. I knew exactly how I would bring this hootie back to life...with Crystal Lacquer and Terri Sproul Mixers from Sakura Hobby Crafts...of course!

So I gathered up my Sakura Crystal Lacquer, Terri Sproul Mixers, a craft knife and my pile of Mixers painted papers and set off to collage this frame.

A brief recap of how I painted the papers: I put down a paper brushed with a little water and picked up the mixer color and painted it on. For most colors, I painted on both sides. This resulted in an aged paper look which has some translucency to it. I repeated for each color I made - this is how I ended up with all the lovely papers pictured above. After painting - I set aside to dry on waxed paper - this absorbed the excess moisture and kept my little colored pages from sticking. Each time I paint with my Sakura Crystal Lacquer and Terri Sproul Mixers, I use up the leftovers by painting book pages, vintage papers or digital collage images I purchase from Altered Pages.

I really love how the Crystal Lacquer alone with a small touch of water soaks through the paper and becomes translucent with the feel of vellum when dry. It really gives the same effect of resin paper.

So I set off to begin collaging the paper to the frame using the Crystal Lacquer as an adhesive.

I selected a yellow painted paper and used Crystal Lacquer to glue paper to back of frame on desired "moon" sections.

When dry, I trimmed outer edges with a craft knife and on the inner borders, gently tore edges back from metal edge. I was careful not to expose sealed edge.

After fully collaging all sections with desired colored papers. No it's not pretty on the back, but it's doing the job. This will be mounted in a shadow box later and nobody will ever be the wiser.

To add additional detail I started by adding the Terri Sproul Mixers Enhancer in place of black to the feet with a toothpick.

With a paintbrush, I mixed up some Pearl Citrine Mixers with Crystal Lacquer and added more color in the moon. Then I added a several other colors to add more depth and interest. The added wetness caused some warping, so as it dried, I gently pushed a dome in the center from the back - voila...instant 3-D!

I continued adding various Mixers colors to enhance other colored areas until all areas were complete. I left the head, wings and tail as they were because I liked the contrast.

Then I flood-filled each section with Crystal Lacquer and set aside to dry until all cloudiness disappeared. I left this to dry overnight.

Using Crystal Lacquer and Terri Sproul Mixers on a Gourd!

 

I’ve been working on another gourd using Crystal Lacquer and Terri Sproul mixers. To begin with I picked out a small Martin Gourd and a pattern of flowers that I thought would look good on it.

                

These flowers were on pyrography paper, so once I decided where I wanted to place them I peeled the back off and stuck it to the gourd. Once I got it situated I wood burned the flowers onto the gourd.

                                        Here’s a close up of the front of the gourd and also the back of the gourd (yep I decided it needed flowers on the back too) once I had finished the wood burning.

          

 

Aren’t they pretty? Both of the flower pictures were on pyrography paper. I enjoy pyrography even though it takes awhile to do. Next I got my Crystal Lacquer out and Red Shimmer Terri Sproul mixers. After mixing the two together to my satisfaction, I took a small paint brush and painted my flowers. For the leaves and stems I mixed Pearl Tanzanite Blue with Pearl Citrine to come up with a green that I liked. I used the small brush and my mixed up green to paint the leaves and stems and this is what it looked like when I finished:

                              

                          

The back of the gourd wasn’t lighter, it’s just the way the light was acting. Don’t you think these colors are amazing? I love this stuff! I’m going to a Gourd Festival in Missouri in two weeks and plan on demonstrating the Crystal Lacquer and Terri Sproul Mixers while I’m there. I think this gourd will be traveling with me as just one example of how these wonderful products can be used. One thing that is just really soooo cooool is that once this product dries you don’t have to seal it and you don’t have to worry about it running if you seal the rest of the gourd and the sealer touches it. You really need to purchase some of the Crystal Lacquer and Terri Sproul Mixers and give them a try! They can be used on so many different things! If you clean up your brush while it’s still wet, you can do it with water, if you let the Crystal Lacquer dry on your brush (shame on you, lol) you can use fingernail polish remover with acetone to clean it up. Get you some and let the fun begin!!
